Job Summary
The Product Owner – AI, is responsible for translating product initiatives into clear, executable definitions for AI agent capabilities within the Procure-to-Pay portfolio.
The role ensures that each AI initiative is:
- Clearly framed around a real operational problem
- Supplied with the right data context
- Scoped appropriately
- Measurable in outcome
- Validated with real users before scale
The Product Owner works closely with Engineering and Data teams during delivery and directly with selected customers during validation phases.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Convert product initiatives into structured problem statements, scope definitions, and measurable success criteria.
- Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) in own workflows for research, requirements drafting, data analysis, and stakeholder communication to model AI-first working practices for the team.
- Prioritize problems by business value, feasibility, risk, and data availability,
- Maintain a clear, prioritized backlog of problem statements, hypothesis‑driven epics, and user stories with Definition of Ready/Done tailored to AI work.
- Define the operational context in which the AI agent operates (user role, workflow stage, constraints, dependencies, human in the loop checkpoints, and fallback strategies).
- Ensure required data inputs, permissions, and system integrations are identified before development begins.
- Define expected outputs and observable outcomes, not deterministic rule logic.
- Own AI risk controls in the backlog: privacy safeguards, least‑privilege access, auditability, and AI safety policies (e.g., toxicity, prompt‑injection defenses).
- Incorporate compliance requirements (GDPR, SOC 2) into acceptance criteria; align with security architecture.
- Participate in prototype reviews and pilot evaluations to assess agent behavior against intended outcomes.
- Gather structured feedback from early adopter customers and convert it into actionable refinements.
- Support sprint execution by clarifying requirements and resolving ambiguities.
- Ensure all AI initiatives pass the mandatory AI specification quality gate prior to development commitment.
- Monitor post-release usage and outcome metrics to inform iteration - including AI-specific KPIs such as automation rate, straight-through processing percentage, false positive/negative rates, user override frequency, and cost-per-transaction impact.
Requirements
- 5+ years in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar execution-focused role in enterprise SaaS.
- Strong understanding of Procure-to-Pay and/or Invoice-to-Pay workflows.
- Hands‑on experience defining or shipping LLM/AI agent features or decision‑support systems in production.
- Ability to frame problems clearly and define measurable outcomes.
- Experience working closely with engineering teams in agile environments.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured documentation capability.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and cross‑functional teamwork with Engineering, Data/ML, and Design.
